I didn't give Ezlan the heart and didn't buy items from the stuck merchant, which one should I do?

I'm tried to unlock the dlc but Idk if it worked, not playing pass the tutorials yet so Idk if I can play coop with my friends too

I once had a dream, someone had a gun and shoot me. And then for 3 seconds that feel like a minute, I can feel all my organs not working, and saw the darkest black I have ever seen in my life, then I woke up.
