Buying 2018 z900rs, 2900 miles for 6k
I’ve been riding a long time and switch up bikes so not a beginner. I like these bikes and they’ve been on my short list to pick up for a while. Came across one from a private seller for $6k with 2,900 miles. It’s black, black wheels, silver lettering with silver and gold stripe on tank, aftermarket led front and back turn signals and they work great. Guy is selling bc medical issues affecting mobility and observed said issues when we met.
I went and looked at it, rode it, I see no issues and it rode great. I’m gonna go back and buy it and taking a friend with me who has more mechanical aptitude for motorcycles and has more experience than me to look it over and ride it before purchase. One thing that stood out was low speed, it felt like it jerked a lil when applying power, not bad but like it didn’t like going less than 35 mph or at low rpm’s. Second, when downshifting I couldn’t tell if I wasn’t able to downshift from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st until I was in the speed window for the lower gear by design or if it was an issue? Again, first time I rode that type bike, as in 100 hp kawi. I’ve watched reviews and read and it seems like what I experienced is normal but I thought I’d ask those questions and a couple more in this sub. Good price? Any issues you’d look for in something 8 yrs old with low miles? Any other input or things to look out for is appreciated, thanks!
