2027 City Budget will Cripple, Possibly Kill our Greeley Museums
If you grew up in Greeley, you probably remember visiting Centennial Village in fourth grade, going to History Fest, or taking a school field trip to learn local history.
Now the City’s 2027 budget proposes to cut Greeley Museums by more than $332,000, making those kinds of field trips—and events like Halloween celebrations and community picnics at Centennial Village—impossible.
Another option would have the City leave the museum business altogether and end City-run events like the Arts Picnic, Farmers Market, Festival of Trees, and similar community gatherings.
There is no group ready to take over and no clear plan for what happens to the buildings, collections, staff, or programs.
These places cannot just be switched off in six months.
Please speak to City Council:
Tuesday, July 7 at 6 p.m.
City Council Chambers, 1001 11th Avenue
This is not final yet. Public voices matter now.
