Jealousy is real!!!
Not sure if this post will be posted, but I hope it does.
This feels important to share. I recently started following a FB group called SOS Global Indians. Their posts felt helpful. However, on a recent post about”8 truths for living on an H1B”, I noticed a comment that, while not abusive on its face, prompted me to look further. In isolation, it wasn’t the worst thing, but the person’s broader posting history shows that he lives & is from Bangladesh, with posts that are hostile toward India & Indians. This doesn’t look like good-faith comment. It feels more like agenda-driven provocation.
I have observed same pattern on other social media as well. (Sometimes even more blatantly negative) I have ignored it because trash produces trash but this is fueling & amplifying anti NRI sentiment. I do understand sometimes criticism is valid & we as a group should address that but such ill motivates, intentional & (feels like) planned comments, posts against NRIs needs to be addressed.
