Update on my scanxiety - STABLE!

I posted on Tuesday about my scanxiety - thank you to everyone with their kind words then. I was convinced my scan results would be bad, absolutely positive I could feel my bone mets growing, but my onc has confirmed it’s all good and my cancer is stable! Not much reduction, but no growth either.

These are my first scans since I started treatment in the spring, so I’m really happy that it seems to be working.

Obviously I’d love it to be shrinking but can’t be mad at no growth!!

Any parents with young children while on treatment - were you advised to change your children’s vaccination schedule?

I’ve tried googling this, but my daughter is due to have the MMRV and 4-in-1 preschool vaccinations in a month or so. I’m pro-vaccine, so planned for her to have these as normal.

At my last prostap appt, the nurse at my GP surgery asked about vaccines for me (pneumonia, flu jab). I checked with my breast care nurse in a phone call and she said inactive vaccines were fine, but I had to avoid live vaccines and anyone who had recently had a live vaccine. I’d never heard that last part before so I asked about my daughter’s upcoming vaccinations and she repeated that inactive ones were fine, avoid live. I’ve since checked and next month, she’s due a mix of both.

I have an in person next week, I’m going to double check then in case I misunderstood, but just wondering if anyone else has been through this? Do your children get offered a different vaccine? It’s the MMRV (measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox) that’s live, the other one is not (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio). It feels important that she has both, but equally how do I avoid a mummy obsessed 3 year old?!

I‘m on leuprorelin (prostap), letrozole and ribociclib (kisqali), it’s the ribo that is causing the issue for my immune system.

Anyone on Denosumab? also called XGEVA or Prolia

My oncologist has just prescribed me Denosumab / Prolia and I’m really wary about starting it, cause the side effects read like more of what I’ve already got and then some. I don’t really understand what it’s going to help. I‘m only 4 months into hormone treatment, 3 cycles of Ribociclib and reading the info, this is recommended if bones are weakening - but we don’t know if mine are yet?

I have really bad brain fog, so I only remembered to tell my oncologist right at the end of our appointment that I was having back pain with pins and needles around my spine. I’d been advised to go to A&E, they’d done an MRI to check for MSCC and it was fine, then he just suddenly prescribed this and gave me some information to read, but he didn’t have time to go through it and for some reason my breast care nurse (who usually keeps me after appts to talk me through stuff) wasn’t there. I’m going to arrange to call her to get more info but thought I’d ask you lovely people here too

My cancer is spread to my left hip, only a small bit, was missed on my bone scan even and only showed up in the PET. My only treatment currently is two hormonal (letrozole and leuropropelin) and Ribociclib. I started right at mbc so I’ve never had surgery or radiation.

Can anyone offer any reassurance from their own experience?

Is this a normal amount of infections? Does it get better?

I’m recently diagnosed (tumour found in Dec 2025, found out it was MBC in Feb 2026) and I’m on day 5 of my third cycle of Ribociclib. I feel like I’m constantly calling my acute oncology team with problem after problem.

My first cycle was postponed because I was sick on day 1 (fever, chills)

In cycle one, I had vision problems, a rash (eventually went away with piriton but had to go to A&E because my husband and my MIL thought it wasn’t blanching under glass - it was on my ass so I couldnt see myself, and yes I had to show my MIL my bare ass), and a fever. The very last day of treatment, I got a cold and failed my blood test.

Then the injection site for my hormone treatment (leuproprelin) got infected and I had to have antibiotics.

No surprise, cycle 2 was postponed until I finished my antibiotics.

Cycle 2 I had horrible back pain with numbness & tingling, had to be checked for MSCC (overnight stay in hospital, MRI), and another fever.

Cycle 3, even though I felt absolutely fine after my off-week I failed my blood test again (0.9 and needs to be at least 1) so I’ve been dropped from 600mg to 400mg which I’ve read is really common, but I’m struggling with it because my oncologist was so confident that because I’m young & otherwise healthy, I’d bounce back with ease. Now immediately I’m sick again, it’s just a sore throat and swelling in my mouth, but I have to stop the medication for a week. Again.

Is this normal right at the start or am I doing something wrong? Does it get better?

I have an extremely active 3 year old daughter so I’m worried I’m just doing this to myself and wearing myself out because it’s so hard to rest around her.
