Should Colorado's legislature come back from vacation to investigate Polis?

Two days after the legislative session ended on May 13th, Governor Polis commuted the sentence of Tina Peters. She had been the Mesa County clerk and was convicted of four felonies for giving people access to election equipment and compromising our election integrity. The sentencing judge called her "a danger to our community" and said prison was necessary. Every Democrat in the legislature had urged Polis not to do it.

But, Colorado's constitution (Article V, Section 7) lets the legislature call itself back into special session without the governor. 2/3s of both chambers need to sign on to do so simultaneously. That's 44 House members and 24 Senators.

Some of the things pissing me off:

  • The timing was deliberate. He waited until the day after they went home.
  • This was completely corrupt. It is the reason people hate both parties. He didn't do it for justice, but as a political favor to Trump.
  • The Republican DA who prosecuted Peters called the commutation "special treatment that ordinary defendants would never receive"

Multiple Democratic candidates have publicly called for a special session. Also the Democrats are only one vote short in the House and the Senate. So it is possible to do.

This feels impeachable if only so that Polis can never hold office again in this state. At the very least the legislature should not stay on vacation until 2027 and they should come back to debate it.

Call for a Legislative Special Session to Impeach Polis

Please contact your representatives. I built this website and online tool for finding them and there is a form for recording and tracking responses as they come in. We already have two primary challengers (Melat Kiros running for DeGette's US Hourse seat and David Seligman running for Attourney General).

Please contact your own representatives and then also spread this site around.

Let's Count Votes for Impeaching Polis

Today Governor Polis commuted the sentence of Tina Peters, who was convicted of tampering with election equipment used in Colorado elections. This appears to be a political bribe to curry favor with Trump. Colorado's constitution allows the House to impeach the governor. I'm organizing a campaign to pressure every House member to vote yes. Call your rep today, fill out the form on the site, and let's start counting votes.

If you have any suggestions for the site or for the campaign please add comments. Also if you see any bugs or if anything seems confusing let me know. I threw it together pretty fast.

One thing I could definitely use help with is spreading this around on different platforms.
