Is Coop's realistic for us?

We're going with a party of 8 in a couple of weeks (last weekend of August). We're coming from out of town -- I love Coop's and wanted to bring my group of friends.

By the time our flight lands, we check in, and get ready, it will be around 8pm-ish.

I know Coop's doesn't take reservations/call ahead, which is a tough gamble for a group our size. Any idea how long we're likely to wait? Trying to figure out if I need to just pick a different restaurant.

"So you wanna go to a real party?"

*insert titanic meme*

We are a group of 4 couples from Miami in our early 30s coming in late August for a weekend. I’m the trip planner in the group.

I know about the Bourbon St and Frenchmen St stops, but where is the REAL party at in the NOLA area? We love clubs and dancing so was considering downtown spots, but would love to hear from locals.

We love the party!

Mr. B’s vs. Galatoire’s

Context: We are three couples in our 30’s going to NOLA because we want to have as much fun as possible. Only two of us have been to NOLA before.

I am coordinating the trip, and have been to NOLA five prior times. Every trip, I’ve gone to Mr. B’s. I love it there.

But this trip I was debating doing our “nice dinner” at Galatoire’s. And while I know Galatoire’s is much more traditional, I hear the food is better at Mr. B’s. Plus then we need to pack jackets. But I don’t want to pick Mr. B’s and short the rest of the group on a classic.

What’s the better move?
