I immediately added to cart because I loved this book, although I wish the edges were giving more. What does everyone think?

Owlcrate, Fae Crate, and Darkly are all releasing the same duology.
I’m trying to decide which one to go for since ideally I’d only get one of these. I made a pros and cons list for myself, and I’m curious to see everyone’s thoughts (personal taste, past experiences with these companies, anything to add, anything you disagree with, etc.)

I’ve only dived into this world of special editions this month so I don’t know a lot about the nuances (quality, likelihood of messing up, etc.) of the different book boxes. I don’t have any subs yet

Would also really appreciate any insight about shipping to Canada from these companies! Such as cost and shipping condition

All info below is as of June 20, 2026.

Owlcrate (July Adult)
Pro: personally love these artists more than Fae Crate’s (without knowing anything about Darkly’s) and I LOVE that revealed dust jacket
Con: only one book, so would need to grab the second book + shipping at another date. Don’t know what the naked hardcover or end pages look like (although we know the artists). Needs an Owlcrate sub or gotta reach out to save someone a skip

Fae Crate (OPUS)
Pro: would get both books of the duology at once, and most of the art is revealed (quite pretty too). Can preorder now
Con: expensive shipping to Canada ($46 USD, but at least it’s one time shipping for both books). Unknown naked hardcover art

Bookish Box Darkly
Pro: omnibus (so 2 books in 1). I generally like Bookish Box’s designs I think. Cheaper shipping than Fae Crate ($20 USD)
Con: unknown release date and unknown artists as on June 20, 2026. Not sure if Darkly sub needed (maybe at least for EA)

The only time constraint is the Owlcrate renewal date being July 1, and I’m not sure when Fae Crate’s preorders close. Or else I’d wait for Darkly to come out with more into

I’m new to book boxes in general, and I was wondering if books that I’m assuming are not as in high demand (compared to The Knave and the Moon which I was able to get today! 🥳) usually make it to general access? I got The Wind Weaver (book 1) secondhand, so I’m wondering if I need to bother that person to help me get this in EA.
