Backstory:

Ame’s life began in the shadow of hardship and tragedy. Born into extreme poverty, her parents often went hungry just to ensure she had enough to eat. When Ame was only one year old, fate brought them into contact with Nagamitsu Rai (永光らい), a skilled Thunder Breathing swordsman who saved the family from a demon attack.

Struck by his strength and nobility, her parents saw in Rai the only chance for their daughter to lead a decent life. They begged him to take her in, but Rai, overwhelmed by the responsibility and doubting his own capabilities as a guardian, declined. However, two years later, another demon attack put the family in peril. This time, Rai did not arrive in time to intervene; when he finally reached the scene, he found only devastation. Yet, amidst the ruins, he discovered Ame, the sole survivor, crouched in a hiding spot, desperately stifling her sobs to remain undetected. That image, compounded by the guilt of having failed to save her parents, sealed Rai’s fate. He finally accepted the burden of protecting the child that death had left in his care.

Ame grew up in the forest at the home of Rai and his elderly mother. Her life was defined by a constant duality: Rai, often away due to his duties as a Slayer, always offered her fleeting, tender warmth whenever he returned. Meanwhile, his mother, though distant and unaffectionate, unintentionally taught Ame the discipline and art of managing a household.

From a young age, Ame felt a devoted fascination with her guardian's work. Her greatest desire was to wield a sword just like him, but Rai flatly refused to train her. To him, protecting her meant keeping her far away from the constant danger that stalked all Demon Slayers. Even so, Ame found ways to learn: she would watch Rai practice in the backyard from the shadows, memorizing every stance. During his long absences, she would replicate those movements using nothing but a tree branch. Despite poorly performed, her attempts at technique born entirely from silent observation.

A year before joining the main group at Tsuzumi Mansion, tragedy struck her life once more. Following the death of Rai’s mother, Ame continued living in the home she shared with the swordsman, though his absences grew increasingly frequent and prolonged. It was on one of those nights, left completely alone and defenseless, that a demon broke into the house. Cornered, Ame clumsily tried to fend it off with a rolling pin before making a desperate attempt to flee. However, the creature, which Ame later identified as the Upper Moon Five, caught her, grabbing her by the throat and beginning to choke the life out of her.

Just when death seemed inevitable, Rai burst onto the scene. The battle that followed was a nightmare of hours of physical exhaustion and mortal wounds for Rai, and a fun night of games for the Gyokko. When the first rays of sunlight finally forced the demon to retreat, the price had already been paid: Rai was mortally wounded. In his final breaths, the swordsman handed his blade to Ame, finally confessing his faith in her and his conviction that she would grow to become a great Demon Slayer.

Witnessing Rai’s death was the ultimate turning point. Driven by grief and a desire to honor the man who sacrificed everything for her existence, Ame decided to take up the sword. Although she lacked official training, she realized that her years of watching Rai in secret had not been in vain; they were the solid (though mediocre) foundation of her destiny. With iron determination, Ame embarked on the path of a Demon Slayer, resolved to become the successor to the legacy inherited through blood and ashes.

Ame's relationship sheet!

IMPORTANT!

  1. The way Ame relates to some characters change over time. Therefore, I divided it into how she relates to them on "1st Half of the Story" and "2nd Half of the Story". 2nd Half also includes post-manga story. Like, the rest of their lives.

  2. EVERY relationship is reciprocated. EXCEPT for the dead, since well, they can't think anything about Ame. But it is reciprocated in the way that it was the last thing they tought about Ame.

  3. Yes, this is an OC x Canon xD

PLEASE tell me this is not an inconsistency...?

In the movie, we see gramps gives Zenitsu his orange-yellow haori when he's already blonde. But in the first season, we see he already has his orange-yellow haori when his hair is still black. So... Like... What happened?

I tend to believe that the canon is that he already has his orange-yellow haori when his hair is still black, just because this scene in the movie doesn't appear in the original manga... But I wanted to know if any of you have any another explanation or even a headcanon that could explain this because I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT THIS IS AN INCONSISTENCY-
