Oil pastel

Another abstract oil pastel. This has been a year of exploring oil pastels for me so it’s been fun to work with them now, in this way.

A little 4x6

From the largest now to the smallest I’ve created since my work with oil pastels began in February.

This is my largest yet 14 x17

Here’s a bouquet based on a reference photo, though really I’ve changed some of the colors, etc. then. It’s on Bristol paper so it was very smooth & really didn’t work well for the pastel application in layering. It was great for blending which then made it easy to overwork!

Given all of this, any tips to make it better from here-or just leave it.

Also, does anyone successfully use Bristol paper?

Thank you!

A true bird this time!

Here’s a penguin! I still love my “imaginary” birds but it’s good to challenge myself to create realistic ones as well.
