Today I want to introduce you to a Vietnamese slang called "lái máy bay bà già". This can roughly be translated into "cougar" in English.

​

Although both terms refer to a relationship between an older woman and a younger man, they have differences in some aspects. The word "Cougar" focuses on the image of the woman. It describes them as active "hunters."

​

On the other hand, "Lái máy bay bà già" focuses on the action of the man (the pilot) and the woman in this phrase is called an "airplane". People usually use it to tease friends or gossip about celebrity couples with large age gaps.
