Gears is not an easy game - PSA to new PvP players

This is not call of duty where anyone can camp in a corner with a claymore and shoot someone in the back. Gears is a hard game. You have to earn your kills. In an age of instant satisfaction and convenience, a game like Gears remains niche because of the difficulty of combat. High TTK, advanced movement, 3rd person POV, and VERY high skill ceiling overall makes every kill feel rewarding and earned. However, most people nowadays just want instant dopamine.

If you feel that little rush when you get a kill, stick with it. Its one of the most rewarding games to play when you finally "get good" and can chain kills together. Utilize the entire sandbox. The weapon pick ups are very powerful. Every fight doesn't have to be with a gnasher. This is a very special game and it takes time to learn it. Its almost like a fighting game with how much you're managing distance between yourself and your enemy. I hope you all enjoy E day for many years to come!

The first thing to learn is the “gib” range which is when you kill them with one shot. If I think I’m in gib range and I shoot but they don’t die, I immediately start backing up because they’re trying to close the distance and gib me. This is really important and will help you stay alive in fights. Managing the distance between you and your opponent.

When you shoot your gnasher you have to quickly take into account how many pellets hit your target which will tell you how much health they have left and how many more shots they need.

Lastly, you have to take into account active reloads. If you don’t have active bullets, the person you’re fighting might so their damage and range is slightly higher than yours so they can gib you from farther.

There’s a lot more I can write but those are the basics.

Incredible what an update can do for an 11 year old game

Being on PC and having all of the graphics turned up with path tracing, playing on a 1440p OLED monitor, the level of immersion has grown exponentially. Can't wait to spend another 400 hours in this game!
