Diagnosed with shingles, no chickenpox history

Hi everyone!

TLDR: Doctor suspects shingles, but never had chicken pox growing up - anyone else with similar experience?

I (29,F) was diagnosed with suspected shingles yesterday. I have blisters and a crusted lesion with new ones forming on the R side of my scalp. Lesions and pain do NOT cross the midline.

I never had chicken pox growing up. I was fully vaccinated with the live varicella when I was a baby. Doctor said it’s still possible for me to get shingles despite not having a chickenpox.

The pain is a constant throb and burning. Doc started me on Valtrex and Gabapentin (which finally helped me sleep).

I am incredibly confused and honestly distressed. My mind is racing because I don’t know how this happened. Just needing to get this off my chest and some support from those who have gone through this.
