Express Pay still requests wallet to be opened first

So - I have my Pixel Watch 4 set up for Tap to Pay & Transit, but after working initially, since the most recent software update every time I try to tap & pay it doesn't work & requests that I open the Wallet first & then tap again.

It's an utter pain - what gives? Has the latest update broken it? Or could it be that the AOD of my new PER32 Hybrid watch face is causing an issue instead? I have AOD set to kick in after 15 secs, but as soon as I lower my watch to tap & pay the AOD minimal display comes on immediately.

Is anyone else having issues with Express Pay?

Thanks.

Original Pixel Watch screen came off - and this dropped out

On Saturday night, the screen on my Pixel Watch lifted off, but I couldn't get it to go back on flat.

The battery wasn't swollen, but after looking more closely I found this tiny little broken piece - about 1mm wide & 4mm long - stuck (magnetically) to the top of the vibration unit.

It's obviously something that's broken off, and since it has a copper piece in it, I'd assume it's something electrically important which will now be affecting the watch functionality.

I could just glue the screen back on, but I'd rather know if the watch is damaged before I do that. It still seems to function & charge as far as I can see - but what has broken?

Trams running through the night during the Festival this year?

Anyone know if there are plans for the trams to run through the night again during the Festival this year, and whether this usually runs from 1st Aug or will only be from the 7th Aug (when the Festival starts this year)?

I'll be getting back from holiday into the centre of Edinburgh late on Sat 1st (after the last tram to Leith will have left Princes Street) and want to know if I'll be able to get a late Festival tram back instead

Made the Pilgrimage

I flew down to London with my daughter for a few days to see the Wes Anderson Archives at the Design Museum and Wallace & Gromit and Friends at the Young V&A amongst other things.

I suddenly remembered on day 2 that I really should make the pilgrimage to Prufrock Coffee whilst I was there, so we made our way to Leather Lane and had lunch there. My filter coffee arrived black in its little carafe with a glass, but I never drink black, sugarless coffee (except for my neat morning espresso) and was about to ask for milk and sugar when I paused and realised I really should try it first. Well - it was light, fragrant and delicious, with not a hint of the usual dry bitterness I'd normally expect in a black, unsweetened coffee. It made me realise I need to work much harder on dialling-in and getting my filters right, and if I do so I might finally be able to start drinking coffee sans milk and sugar and actually enjoying it like that.

To help, I bought myself a bag of the filter coffee I'd chosen that day so I'll know when I get it right and it tastes like it did in the cafe. Wish me luck!
