GoogyPicks: Waiver Strategy for GW38

GoogyPicks: Waiver Strategy for GW38

FINAL GAMEWEEK.

First of all, thank you all.

This season, we did this together. Some of you are lifting trophies this week, others are fighting for survival. Personally, this has been the season I went from "Googy who posts in r/DraftEPL" to "Googy who runs Waiver Kings 👑": built the app, hit almost 100 subscribers, wrote a post every week, replied to hundreds of emails and even more Reddit comments and most importantly, built community and trust. None of it happens without you. Next season, we continue even stronger. In the meantime, I optimize and learn from all of the feedback!

https://preview.redd.it/ru2l836t6r2h1.png?width=368&format=png&auto=webp&s=8018daf39ecde9a521fbbb432d688efe3a6a5ac6

After season finishes, I will be dropping a personalized season recap for every subscriber. Your MVP, your best GW, your bench horrors, the one that got away. If you've never been on the list, now's the time. It is still totally free and I will do my best to include fun, educational and interesting league KPIs and stats. Find Waiver Kings through my profile and hurry up because FPL Towers will remove this seasons data soon so I need to know to save your GW history 😁!

Now, to the matches.

Here is the full fixture list:

  • Brighton - Man Utd
  • Burnley - Wolves
  • Crystal Palace - Arsenal
  • Fulham - Newcastle
  • Liverpool - Brentford
  • Man City - Aston Villa
  • Nott'm Forest - Bournemouth
  • Spurs - Everton
  • Sunderland - Chelsea
  • West Ham - Leeds

Fixtures / teams that I would try to find waivers from:

- MNU: Bruno needs someone to score to break that assist record!
- BUR vs WOL: actually, whoever wins this will not finish season as last team. I expect fun game!
- LIV: Potentially last match for three club legends: Alisson, Robertson, Salah.
- MCI: Last Pep's match, last match for both Stones and B.Silva.
- BOU: Europe footy next season fight.
- TOT vs EVE: relegation battle! Moyes will do everything in his power to help WHU stay up.
- WHU: They have to win this.

If you have any waivers from these teams, I already love it!

Fixtures / teams I would totally avoid:

- CRY vs ARS: With both teams playing Europe finals in 3-4 days, expect HEAVY rotation + Arsenal hangover.
- Aston Villa: pretty much same, starting XI seems uncertain.

Defenders

Maguire (MNU) - Brighton

Someone has to score for that Bruno assist, right? If i remember correctly, Bruno has only 8 open play assist, so another corner seems likely. Also, he would want to prove Tuchel that it was mistake not to include him into England's squad?

Mavropanos (WHU) - Leeds

It's a must win for WHU. Simple as that. And if that games turns out to be the one where WHU are chasing winning goal, expect lot set pieces where Mav thrives. On the other hand, if that game turns out to be one where WHU are protecting their lead, expect a lot of DEFCONs. Seems like a win-win to me.

Robertson (LIV) - Brentford

Club's legend. For sure he will start this one. Since he is a defender, we actually like the fact that he could be taken out before the match ends to get standing ovation (CS% going strong!!) and who knows, maybe he finds Salah for his farewell goal one last time.

Stones (MCI) - Aston Villa

Same story, but bit riskier. My gut feeling is Pep starts him, but follow press conference + predicted lineups.

Midfielders

Salah (LIV) - Brentford

I really don't want to say anything here. There is 10%+ 10 man leagues where he is not selected, just make sure it's not yours.

B.Silva (MCI) - Aston Villa

Not the pick I like that much, but it's his final City match. He might go with a bang!

Amad (MNU) - Brighton

Amad played 90 minutes GW37 and if Šeško is confirmed out, that could repeat. With the pace Bruno played last 15 minutes, he could be one of the players which benefit the most.

Jacob Ramsey (NEW) - Fulham

Hail Mary pick. If Jacob Ramsey is the one who saves your season, let it be. Great form, DEFCON hit + assist last GW, BUT he could be benched by Gordon (and enable his farewell, too). Make sure you follow press-conference!

Forwards

Raúl Jiménez (FUL) - Newcastle

Farewell? His contract expires, he should start his last Fulham match.

Taty (WHU) - Leeds & Flemming (BUR) - Wolves

Nothing much to add, pretty much all of the starting FWDs are taken by now. Be safe in this position, risk everything (if needed) in MID / DEF.

GoogyPicks: Waiver Strategy for GW37

TWO MORE GAMEWEEKS. That's only 6 points in H2H leagues.

First things first, hopefully you were more responsible than me and you did not miss waiver deadline. Luckily, many of you have your league positions sorted already. Congrats, kings 👑

Claim your seat at King's table!

Secondly, this is your last chance to get PERSONALIZED WAIVER SUGGESTION email! Make sure you subscribe for free via my Reddit profile (to find Waiver Kings) and we make a final push (or a victory lap), together! I will be sending waiver suggestions to everyone for GW38.

Apart from waiver suggestion, Waiver Kings free tier subscribers will receive their season overview and highlights once season is finished. Stay tuned, it will be fun. I promise!

This GW, we do something a bit different since we need to react to free agency. I will be dropping my watchlist + comments per team.

WATCHLIST

ARS

- Lewis-Skelly who seems to be locked in starting XI.
- Mosquera (both B.White and Timber are injured) should start. Arsenal will be fighting for that CS, every goal scored / conceded now matters. A lot.
- Ødegaard brought needed energy.

AVL

I would totally ignore this team from now on. Keep Watkins and Rogers, everyone else is droppable.

BOU

- Rayan is in hot form.
- Their defence is great, even against tough opponents.

BRE

- Hidden gem territory; Lewis-Potter is a must pick up.
- Jensen and Damsgaard are really solid options**.**

BHA

- Hinshelwood can't stop scoring.
- Groß can't stop assisting.
- De Cuyper amazing option. He could play as a winger with Mitoma out.

BUR

Ignore**.**

CHE

Ignore.

CRY

- Don't trust them and their PL motivation / rotations.
- Almost all of them are droppable, grab more secure starters now!

EVE

- Defenders who are starting.

FUL

Ignore.

LEE

- Stach.
- Ampadu. High floor player, great if you are in a lead position.
- Bijol.

LIV:

- Ngumoha, he must start after Slot received Anfied boo's.
- Salah returns. I would grab him if available, even as a sub he will want to score in his last 2 games for Liverpool**.**

MCI

- Risky territory, but here are some picks that are worth it, especially if chasing.
- Doku.
- Foden.
- Marmoush. 2G in 2 matches.
- Gvardiol. Finally back, but I wouldn't get him yet.

MNU

- Mainoo running the show.
- Super risky pick: Dorgu.

NEW

- Osula.
- Bruno G.
- DEFCON beast himself, Botman. Ignore rest.

NFO

- Gibbs-White should return. Masked**.**
- Igor Jesus.

TOT

- From hero to zero. Tel.

SUN

- Xhaka.
- E.Le Fée.

WHU

- Every starter. They will be fighitng for their lives.
- Mavropanos.
- Souček.
- Summerville.

WOL

Ignore.

GoogyPicks: Press conferences summary GW36

ARSENAL

- No new injuries, Timber and Merino still out. WAIVER OUT if you haven't already!

ASTON VILLA

- McGinn back from the injury with a massive game last night.

- No concerns regarding Watkins. HOLD.

- "PL is a priority" - Emery, basically.

BOURNEMOUTH

- Álex Jiménez will not feature against Fulham, confirmed by the club after posts on social media. WAIVER OUT.

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

- Gomez and Weiffer OUT. Easy waivers out. Grab Groß or Hinshelwood instead!

- Hint that Dunk could start!

CRYSTAL PALACE

- Glasner complains about exhaustion, meantioning Adam Wharton, Michell, Sarr, Pino, Mateta... I expect all of them rested, be careful when waivering IN.

LEEDS

- Okafor out for a season basically. WAIVER OUT 😭

- Struijk could be back by the Monday.

LIVERPOOL

- Salah and Alisson OUT.

- Giorgi Mamardashvili will train today, could start IMO.

- Isak, Wirtz and Konate all expected back in the training; personally, I don't expect Isak starting, but he could feature off the bench.

MANCHESTER CITY

- Rodri possible, seems like he could get minutes from the bench, but I don't expect his start. Don't waiver in.

- Same for Dias and Gvardiol.

- Doku praised by Gvardiola.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

- Miley OUT.

- Osula praised by Howe.

REST

- Nothing worthy regarding: BRE, BUR, EVE, FUL, WHU (all fit), WOL.

- Make sure to subscribe to Waiver Kings and get your personalized GW37, GW38 and season recap!

THREE GAMEWEEKS TO GO. Nobody is safe i. your squad anymore 🤔

NOTE: I’m building something I’m genuinely excited about. It will be a personalized end-of-season recap for every Waiver Kings subscriber that breaks down your season from start to finish, including your form trends, biggest waiver hauls, and a full visual look back at your year.

It’s completely free and will land in your inbox after GW38, but if you want to receive it, you’ll need to join the email list before the season ends with your team ID. You can sign up now on Waiver Kings via my Reddit profile. 👑

Last GW highlights

- Okafor continues his form. That's now 3rd double-digit haul in the last 4 matches.

- Osula 3G in last 4 matches, starting FWD spot locked in.

- Hinshelwood two GWs in a row with a goal scored.

- Ballard's season is finished.

- Viktor Gyökeres could be most in-form FWD right now (2G & 1A, 16 pts)

- Rayan two GWs in a row with a goal scored.

- Man Utd win against Liverpool.

- Spurs win 2nd in a row.

- Forrest B squad trash Chelsea.

- City drop points despite Doku's brace.

Defenders

- 👑 Canvot: double GW for CRY, prob only starter not taken already

- Khusanov: same, but for MCI

- Calafiori / Lewis-Skelly: seems it's their spot in starting XI to lose, great waivers to cover ARS DEF (but expect rotations this GW after exhausting CL clash)

- 💎 Dorgu: my hidden gem, he is back. With Cunha rumors about resting before the World Cup and MNU securing the CL spot, he should get decent minutes

Midfielders

- Stach: I don't know why he is still not in your squad?! 10-pointer in a first start since injury (worth noting that other LEE MIDs are great waivers as well given their form and fixtures)

- Hinshelwood: SAME.

- Tel: sneaky waiver, but we love his energy right now. Spurs are in a great momentum and Tel is finding his spot in De Zerbi's plan.

Forwards

- Barry: after his brace against MCI he could be rewarded with a start.

- Osula: only other FWD worth mentioning with < 65% global ownership.

WAIVERS DEADLINE IN 12 HOURS ⚠️

u/googypicks — 16 days ago

FOUR GAMEWEEKS TO GO. Last GW was a BGW survival mission. This one is the opposite. Half the league panic-dropped good players to field 11 last week, and now the waivers are full of treasure. We're going hunting.

Quick note before we get into it.

Reserve your seat at the King's table 👑

I just opened 20 new spots for the FREE subscription tier on the Waiver Kings. Drop your email and you get a personalized waiver email before the deadline: your league position, the opponent's squad weaknesses, and picks tailored to your free pool. Grab a seat.

Find Waiver Kings app via my Reddit profile

Currently, 78% of my subscribers aren't losing their matches. This GW, we push it over 80 together! Subscribers locked their title pushes, one flipped a long relegation run, and a classic player banked a big chase week. Worth grabbing while seats are open.

GW34 Recap — The good, the bad, the Casemiro masterclass

Let's run it back. A lot of useful intel from last week:

  • Brighton 3-0 Chelsea: Welbeck and the seagulls pushed past Chelsea for the European spots race. Do you want to see Welbeck in the Champions League, or is it only me?
  • Rayan off the bench, finally scores. Patience pays I guess, and a decent BGW pickup if you grabbed him.
  • City squeeze a 0-1 win to fire up the title race. MCI Cherki / Khusanov / Doku all relevant going forward.
  • Forest trash Sunderland: Igor Jesus AND Wood starting together. Sunderland have conceded 9 goals in the past 2 GWs. Drop their defenders, full stop.
  • Ryan Sessegnon: 11 points and 11 DEFCON points. Man, I wish he was a DEF and not a MID.
  • Isak starting to catch some form, but Salah is injured. Follow press conferences, Salah could be a drop with his last PL minute played. Thank you, FPL king.
  • Callum Wilson with a late winner to keep Tottenham in the relegation zone, helping West Ham's run-in.
  • Tottenham finally win, but at what cost? Solanke and Xavi injured. Xavi is ruled out, waiver him out. Solanke's 75%, so track press (latest I've seen is that he is out for a season as well).
  • Havertz starts, assists, gets injured. If he's fit going into this GW, must waiver in. Otherwise an easy drop.
  • Bruno G stars. Nice to see him back, hopefully he can grab some points before the season end.
  • Casemiro masterclass: 12 points last GW. Bruno Fernandes is closing in on the PL assist record, and everyone around him will be busting their lungs to help him reach it.
  • Jensen finally matched his stats with a double-digit haul. Shoutout to all the subscribers who were waivering him in over the past few GWs. Glory earned.

Double GW36. Start prepping NOW

This is the most important paragraph in this post.

CRY and MCI both have a DGW in GW36. That means anything you grab from those teams this week plays TWICE following GW. If you're chasing a title, this is the GW that decides it, especially in H2H.

Prioritize: Khusanov, Cherki, Doku (MCI), Canvot, Sarr***, Mateta, Lacroix, Mitchell (CRY). Even if you don't need the position urgently, grabbing a DGW player now and benching them this week sets you up for next week. You won't get the chance later.

*expect rotations tho

Goalkeepers

Woodman (LIV) - Man Utd

Solid Anfield debut. Unlucky not to have a clean sheet, Muñoz scored one of the most bizarre goals of the season. Tough fixture this week vs MUN, but if you're looking for Liverpool coverage, here he is.

Defenders

Khusanov (MCI) - Everton

Seems like he is nailed. Famous last words, right? Look at his last 4 GWs: DEFCON values [8, 4, 10, 11]. He caught fire these 4 matches and looks like a starter from here. Tasty fixture, title race, and most importantly: DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 36.

▲ +22.6% top-50 vs global ownership.

Quick explainer for new readers: that delta is the gap between how often a player is owned in the top-50 leagues (the elite, ranked by total points) vs ALL leagues. A big positive delta means the top managers are on him before everyone else catches up. Khusanov is one of the strongest signals this GW.

https://preview.redd.it/bzp8ds5xe6yg1.png?width=1378&format=png&auto=webp&s=3836009872a21ebf609e12ee0b3fb997d3ef7594

Justin (LEE) - Burnley

Defender capable of scoring in games like this. 27 DEFCON points in DGW33 together with 19-pointer, great fixtures ROS, and Leeds have the 2nd-highest CS odds of any team this GW per the bookies. Sneaky double-threat pick: clean sheet potential AND the kind of nailed full-back who'll take a shot or two.

Hincapie (ARS) - Fulham

Speaking of delta: Hincapie is #5 for defenders by ownership delta (even when I want to stop talking about WHU defenders I can't: Disasi #1, Mavropanos #3, Diouf #4, the whole WHU back line is a delta sweep), and bookies give Arsenal the biggest CS odds this week.

Follow press conferences for Calafiori news, he is benched tonight against Atlético Madrid but I don't expect Arteta to rotate starters. Also keep an eye on the game, since Arsenal's Champions League fixtures could shape some choices this GW.

https://preview.redd.it/52w94fflf6yg1.png?width=1370&format=png&auto=webp&s=02e6a71f93a6d2ca169d7d98eb49d9fb5031bbef

Midfielders

Okafor / Ampadu (LEE) - Burnley

Both on low ownership. Two opposite picks for two different game states.

  • Go for Okafor if you're chasing the lead. Riskier, attacking minutes, capable of double-digit hauls when he clicks. However, please follow the press conference first. Could be injured.
  • Go for Ampadu if you're holding a lead. Safe DEFCON floor, banks 6-8 points reliably without much variance.

Stach (LEE) - Burnley

Category for itself, back from cup minutes. Must-pick if fit and once he's ready for 90 minutes. Press conferences will tell us. The moment manager confirms a full 90 might be too late, this is the sneaky pickup before others catch on.

Everyone (literally, scan your league)

Weird recommendation, I know, but a lot of premium players were waivered out during BGW34. Some were injured (Saka, Bruno G), some were on BGW teams (Tavernier, Doku, Cherki, Groß). Scan your league free-agent list for any of these names showing up. There's gold lying on the wire that won't be there in a week.

If you don't want to do the scanning yourself? Drop your email on the Waiver Kings. I do that for you every GW. 👑

Forwards

Wood / Igor Jesus (NFO) - Chelsea

Four-four-two, give it to me all day. Forest are on fire and they have TWO starting forwards, first time this season I'm seeing it. Or am I wrong? Both are great pickups for any league. If you only have one slot, Igor Jesus might catch better form, while Wood is the proven one.

https://preview.redd.it/a907y43gg6yg1.png?width=389&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9307bbbe8f83d336c686c612dcbe20192eaf1fd

Mateta (CRY) - Bournemouth

69 minutes last GW? Nice. With the DOUBLE GW36 incoming, Mateta is well worth the risk: 96% top-50 ownership, worth a risk if you are looking for better 3rd FWD.

❗ WAIVERS LOCK IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS ❗

Quick rundown if you're running late:

  1. Don't be scared to over-grab CRY / MCI players, DGW36 is too good to miss this late.
  2. Flip your DEF first: Khusanov, Justin, Hincapie are the easiest swaps
  3. If Stach is confirmed fit, MID is sorted with him. Other Leeds midfielders are worth it as well (Okafor or Ampadu)
  4. Forest two-up-front means at least one of Wood / Igor Jesus belongs in your squad

See you in the war room 👑
