OG speargun

Seen at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, no details on it that saw, looks like the spear is in upside down. Can’t tell if it has a euro or American notch 😆 technically Mexico is in North America… but the European Spainards did colonize Mexico….

San Diego paddle board spearfishing.

Had a great dive last weekend. The water was very warm in the mid 70s. Saw lots of life and landed my first yellowtail! I shot a big yellowtail too but it tore off in just a couple seconds. I was trying to play it easy as I couldn’t see exactly where I hit it but it tore off just before spooling my reel, those things are FAST. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a big one so I think I misjudged the distance and hit it low. Hopefully it recovers, I’m pretty selective and don’t take shots unless I think it’s a good one. First time I’ve seen grouper and triggerfish too. I dove the next day and it was almost 10 degrees cooler in the water and murkier. Totally surprised me, I heard people talking about an upwelling.
