Honeymoon destination dilemma — Europe vs. French Polynesia?

We’re getting married July 17, 2027 and are planning a 2-week honeymoon. We want a mix of relaxing at a really nice resort and doing some sightseeing/exploring, but mostly relaxing.

Our budget is around $12k USD total including flights from Chicago. We’ve already been to the Greek islands, but would consider a different island if there’s a beautiful resort worth staying at.

Right now we’re deciding between a nice resort somewhere in Europe with sightseeing mixed in, or splurging on Moorea + Bora Bora. We want to do something other than the Caribbean Islands.

What would you choose for a honeymoon with a $12k budget? Is Bora Bora/Moorea worth the money, or would you do Europe for more variety?
