Korean business visa: mine accepted, colleague's rejected

Hi everyone. Me and my colleague were supposed to go for product training in south korea. He applied at the kolkata visa office and I from Mumbai. We both are on similar posts. I got my visa within 4 days since i took the express option. His got rejected after 2 weeks. Reason stated was: 8. Your current status (family and economic conditions) does not prove your return within the given period of stay.

We both provided flight tickets, hotel stay, company sponsorship and employment letters. We both are married. Only difference is that he is still on probation and didn't have his own ITR. Also, it would have been his first international trip.

Do these factors really render rejection based on the above mentioned reason? I don't get how a company sponsored trip is not eligible for a visa!

I do have an active US visa. Did that help mine get accepted? If not, would I also have been denied?

I have 3 cards saying no but the 4 of wands is confusing me. He's been working at the same place (an orchard) for 4 years trying to finally get money rolling in. But he isn't making much progress and his salary is pretty low. I want to have faith in him but i don't trust the person he is working for as he doesn't provide the necessary resources.
