WHAT HAPPENED AFTER ROME???

okay, another round, another newbie fandom question 😭

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER ROME???

i keep seeing Westies talk about how there’s basically a “before Rome” and an “after Rome” when it comes to WilliamEst, and now i’m dying to understand what actually happened there.

because obviously i can already see how comfortable and cuddly they are with each other now, and their dynamic seems SO natural to me, but i wasn’t there to witness the actual switch. i only started following them around the You Maniac trailer, so i’m seeing the finished product without having experienced whatever happened in between 😭

so what was it about the Rome trip that changed things so much between them? was there a specific moment or conversation, or was it more that spending that much time together outside of work made them become significantly closer? did something happen during the trip that made their relationship shift, or was it more of a gradual thing that people noticed once they came back?

i keep seeing people say things like “they were different after Rome” or “Rome really changed them” and i’m like OKAY BUT WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY MEAN 😭

was there a noticeable difference in how they interacted after the trip? more physical affection? more teasing? more openness? did they start talking about each other differently in interviews? did their communication change?

basically i need someone who actually witnessed the transition to explain the before Rome vs after Rome timeline to me because i genuinely cannot see the switch when i only have the “after” version in front of me 😭

give me the Rome lore. what happened in Rome???

new williamest fan here and i need someone to explain the lore to me

i started following williamest after the you maniac trailer and i swear every time i open twitter there’s another piece of lore i apparently should already know 😭 like i’ll see people saying “we know why william doesn’t do collaborations and it’s not because of est, it’s because of the lykyou situation” and i’m just sitting there like girl WHAT LYKN SITUATION

i need someone to actually connect the dots for me because i know the surface-level stuff, but apparently there’s an entire history behind why certain things happen now. like why william doesn’t do certain collaborations, why people get so defensive whenever lykn or lykyou are mentioned, why some fans react the way they do to william’s solo activities, where the whole streaming/support discourse came from, why there are apparently specific things gmm or the company has done that people are still mad about, and most importantly, what happened between all these different parts of the fandom in the first place.

because i’ll read a tweet saying “this is exactly why we don’t trust them” or “after what happened last time, i’m not surprised” or “don’t blame est for this,” and everyone immediately understands the reference while i have no idea what happened last time 😭

so i basically need the william lore from the beginning: william before lykn, the lykn/lykyou era, what happened with william and the fandom during that period, how williamest started, what happened once they became a pairing, the things that caused the internal fandom fights, everything surrounding you maniac and its promotion, and then how all of that connects to the current williamest-versus-lykn/solo-stan discourse.

i’m not even necessarily looking for the biggest scandals. i want the little pieces of context that explain why people behave the way they do now. like “this happened back then, which is why fans don’t want x to happen again” or “people blame y for this, but actually it started because of z”—that kind of lore.

i genuinely don’t want to take sides or start anything. i’m just tired of reading a tweet and having to mentally go, “okay, apparently there’s a backstory here that nobody is going to explain” 😭
please give me the williamest extended universe because i am clearly missing several important things…

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with the Ebook Translate plugin in Calibre and I’m wondering if anyone has found a workaround.

I use Google New as the translation engine because, among the free options, I think it gives the best results. The problem is when translating books from English to Italian, the output often defaults to feminine grammatical forms, even when the original text is clearly referring to male characters (for example using feminine adjectives, past participles, or pronouns for male characters).

This becomes really frustrating in dialogue-heavy books or romance, because it changes the meaning and makes the translation feel wrong. I’d like to keep using Google New, but I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to reduce or prevent this behavior.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Are there settings in Ebook Translate I should change, prompt instructions I can add, ways to preserve gender context better, or maybe preprocessing/post-editing tricks that help?

I’m specifically looking for free solutions or workarounds, since I’d prefer not to use paid APIs like DeepL or OpenAI.

Would love to hear if anyone has solved this. Thanks!
