My upgrade to resolute raccoon so far.

Hey everyone. I'm just going to talk about my experience with the LTS update, hopefully it can help others.

I was using the 24.04 LTS and I was very excited about the new release. I stayed up until it was available and I forced the update, followed all the official recommendations and I've let the installation do its magic. First of all, the upgrade took way too much time and I definitely had to run a fix for broken packages afterwards, then I've met some inconsistencies, especially when I tweaked my resolution, font and cursor size, the lock screen stayed the same and I didn't fix it further, sometimes the configurations didn't registrate and I had to apply them again. Also, some softwares were broken especially the graphic interface, like libreoffice, which I had to do alot of acrobatic moves to fix it.

But later, I took the decision to make a fresh install, I did it a few days ago and it's really a huge difference, maybe because lots of issues were fixed since the launch, but it was a better experience, I didn't had to troubleshoot much at all, only to install a few old drivers or compatibility drivers since it's wayland only and many softwares still need X11. But overall I didn't had any troubles and everything work as intended, smoother and faster. I also added some things like support for AppImages and zram, I'm certain I will tweak it more since I can.

So my recommendation for anyone who had met issues with the upgrade, to backup all important data (personal and work) and do a clean install and start over. (I did also format my ssd, with swapfile but the ram wasn't enough for me since I have an 8Go ram on my laptop, installed zram and gave the swapfile up to 4Go)
