Anyone try Molto viola cases? Are they any good and would you recommend?
My viola has been living in this Bobelock that doesn’t even fit it for 17 years! It’s 15.5 inches and poor thing has to have a piece of foam wedged to fit in this thing. I couldn’t afford a case that fit when I bought it in my conservatory days (the case came with the instrument) and i never got around to replacing my case.
I’ve been on a long hiatus from playing but I’m back to it. And I’m realizing like wow, my viola is so beautiful 🥹 an antique viola that is over 120 years old, small size but HUGE sound. Unknown maker but my luthier valued it at $7000 back in 2009. It’s time for me to get a better case.
I don’t have BAM or GEWA money right now, down the line I want to invest maybe if I travel with my viola. But for a more mid range upgrade I’ve been wondering if the Molto cases are a good bet. I live in LA, so it does get some dry heat but not too much fluctuation and my viola is only ever at home or going to or from rehearsals.
Open to recs! But also wanted to ask about Moltos since I don’t see much about it.
