Salzedo Conditioning Exercises

When I try to do Salzedo's exercises I find most of them too much of a stretch & I'm wondering if I should keep at it or forget it. I was told that he wrote these exercises for his girlfriend who had a wide hand. I've been playing for 25 years but I like to go back to exercises (besides just Friou) to avoid getting in a rut.

Old guy

In telling a story recently I caught myself saying "There was an old guy..." & I realized I'M an old guy too...!

(Btw "guy" refers to men & women.)

Comeback

I'm looking for a response when people think they're giving me a compliment like "You look good for your age."

I'm not sure why being/looking young is flattering. I've been interested in portraits for years & find so much more actual beauty in a mature face!

I know they mean well & I don't want to insult them, but I want a response, not a comeback.
