paint-along to s1e6. digital painting in clip studio paint. i'm flyin' through these! i think the cabin looks weirdly small. maybe because of the brush texture size on the bushes on the opposite beach? any tips/critique appreciated as always! :)
paint-along to s1e5. digital painting in clip studio paint. i really like how this one turned out! somehow it feels "noisy," though? and i didn't convey a sense of depth how i wanted to. maybe it's to do with distribution of values? shadow and light areas not separate enough? tips appreciated! :)
paint-along to s1e4. acrylic on a canvas-covered board. i picked a diagonal angle to try to give myself more vertical space, but if you've seen what mr. ross ended up with you'll know it wasn't quite enough! i still like my painting, though, even without a cabin and such.
paint-along to s1e3. done digitally (in clip studio paint). i've never painted lit foliage against a dark background before, so it looks a bit messy and aimless. i'll have to practice more!
the result of a paint-along to s1e2! done digitally (in clip studio paint). i've picked up some better brushes since i did s1e1, but replicating the look of a palette knife is still very difficult. advice appreciated <3
my first bob ross paint-along attempt, from s1e1. a little 800x800 digital piece (made in clip studio paint.)
honestly learned some cool things about how my digital brushes work! i used a "gouache" brush with a custom triangular-ish tip for most of it. and i used a "textured blend" brush to smooth out the sky part.
but, i had a lot of trouble with the the trunks, the sticks, and the rocks. the thin lines and the hard-edge-based stuff like the rocks and path texture that he did with the palette knife felt pretty impossible with the tools i was using. (also, i used a rake thing for the water and you can really tell lol)
i had a lot of trouble with the golden highlights on the trees, also. maybe should have just used my triangular brush instead of pulling out the dry-looking one with the canvas texture?
anybody with digital art experience have advice? on brushes, techniques, whatever. general art advice also appreciated. i'm a character drawing guy trying to get more into landscape stuff.
thank you!
