How long can fragments stay in the bladder?
To give some context, I had lithotripsy in March for a 5mm on my left side that was traveling. After the procedure I mostly just peed dust with the exception of one tiny fragment. A month later, in April (now a month ago) I did lithotripsy on my right side to get a 10mm that was in my kidney. It wasn’t traveling, but wanted to get ahead of things and tackle it. It was also sitting my the lower pole. The day after the procedure (no stent) I ended up in the ER. I was in a ton of pain and morphine didn’t even help. After they gave me the one that starts with a T and helps with inflammation, I finally started to feel better. They also did a ct scan which showed the 10mm having been blast into a 5mm, 4mm, 2mm and so on. So following that visit, I stayed on top of the extra strength ibuprofen and despite not feeling great, was able to manager. Over the following 2 weeks I peed out a TON of fragments. I basically had my own stone collection, with 2 pieces being slightly larger. During the time when I was passing them I had the UTI symptoms (urgency to pee, burning, pain), then was fine. I haven’t had any symptoms with pain from any other fragments traveling but in the last week or two I’ve started feeling the UTI symptoms again. No major pain or burning but the urgency to pee and then uncomfortable when doing so. So my question(after this long story, sorry), what are the chances there are still fragments in the bladder that are waiting to come out? Or is my body still healing and bladder is just irritated? Or just a good old fashion UTI? I’ll try and include a photo of my stone collection (not even all of them, I missed a bunch in the beginning) and the 2 larger fragments that came out.
