Meteor over the Sawtooth Mountains

When I watched this huge meteor burn up over the night sky it totally blew my mind. Right through the Milky Way core - I never get that lucky!

I shot this as a 25 second exposure at f/2 with an iso of 8000 on my Z6 from some BLM land outside of Stanley overlooking the valley. Awesome spot with a very dark night sky. Looking forward to coming back and exploring this area more

Flamingo is pretty badass

Astro here. I hiked the trail in 2017 and haven’t been active on this subreddit, but I have been following some of the hikers this year.

Well Flamingo's videos are everywhere on my instagram. I gotta say it, I think she puts ultralight bros to shame. Here she is finishing the Sierra, but with a super heavy pack. She wasn’t even carrying a stove somehow?! Just absurd and i’m here for it because she actually seemingly has great pace and is nailing it.

I find it equally hilarious, ridiculous yet very impressive. I mean seriously kudos to her. And for not letting people get in her head. I think this lady has some serious grit to do it in her style and I love it. I respect the hell out of it as an alum.

I think we should all be a bit humbled by how non traditionally she is hiking the trail. OF aside, I love to see her updates even if the videos are coded for the male gaze. To me I think that must be so empowering be your own boss and have so much ownership of your career you can do these things together. Anything that empowers people to hike their hike is a great opportunity we all are or were lucky to have. I think it’s awesome.

Posting because the video today about getting a stove for the first time (post Sierra) had me laughing my ass off! I just had to see if there was any discourse on her in the subreddit. I’m sincerely impressed.

Can’t really stomach watching more

I watch this guys videos for whatever reason. The train wreck of it all was hard not to be drawn to. And part of me wanted to see him grow and get better while keeping his off brand survival style. He’s got a lot of issues but i’m not perfect either, so maybe that’s what makes it relatable.

Well… after the death of his dog, I just can’t bring myself to watch a video without feeling sick about it all. It’s one thing to fuck up your personal life, but an animals life is a different realm of irresponsibility. And it’s not new. He should have known better. I think this last disaster is the straw that broke his whole shit for me. At least I can’t stomach watching for a while. Pretty sickening. I respect the guy for updating everyone when it happened even if it could sour things for viewers. But I think i’m out
