Small trigger warning: death

Hi, so this is Chay. I’ve posted about her condition twice in this subreddit. She had recently passed away due to respiratory issues. Honestly, looking back at the short few weeks I had with her, she was likely going to run into health problems. She would have weird breathing issues when she slept and had small sneezing fits. Likely the person who Chay was provided from knowingly/unknowingly gave me a sick sugar glider.

I did all I could for her. Took her to the vet multiple times, gave her the medication she was prescribed, took all the advice everyone told me. But it wasn’t enough. A few days after being hospitalized, she died in my care. She was loved and cherished until the very end.

She was the easiest to hand train because she was so small and young. We clicked since the first day I got her. She would sleep in my hair, my chest, and hand not even a week after I got her. It’s been a miserable week seeing her decline. But the least I could say is that I tried. She’s no longer suffering. She would’ve had a more difficult life staying where she originated from than being under my care. I spent the last 72 hrs with her by my side constantly. It’s hard. I wish things didn’t end like this.

My other glider, Lee, is doing great. Recovered from her hand injury and has bonded with me great. I’ve recently got an additional SG from someone rehoming her. All I can do is move forward and focus on the other SGs that need me.

Rest easy, Chay. You put up a good fight.
