Update after recall software bandaid: % goes down on regen, % goes up on acceleration
I posted a couple weeks ago that my last 10% of my battery "disappears" and goes to --% doing interstate (65-70mph) driving and doesn't really recover after coming to a stop.
I had the recall software bandaid done and it seemed like everything was resolved from an outside point of view, my last 10% of battery was behaving as it should, slowly dropping as I drive like any battery would till 1% and then --%. I didn't really monitor much with LeafSpy but I did post a couple pics in my original post. Wished for a new battery, sure, but the patch seemed to do some sort of fix and I couldn't really be mad.
Fast forward a couple weeks and...
Today, on a 143 mile drive home I went from 95% when I left to 13% when I arrived. Average speed of 59mph with cruise set to 65mph and AC set to 76F.
Then parked for a couple hours, not charging at all, then went out to drive around town to complete some errands. All was fine till 11%, then it just went 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 --% while doing 50mph and slowing down with regen to a stop. I said that correctly, battery percentage dropped during regen. I get to a stop and it levels out at 2% again. Then I accelerate when the light turns green, not babying the car at all, and the battery meter goes 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15%. I let off the pedal and go back to regen and it jumps down noticeably to 7% and then --%.
So, now my last 10% of battery works backwards from physics. LeafSpy reports 73mv difference at idle.
I was able to repeat this reliably from stop light/stop sign to stop light/stop sign four times before turning around to go home and plug it in to charge.
Theoretically I can now drive for infinity if I keep my foot to the floor.
