In chase, he can slow down for a moment to summon a line of lightning strikes in front of him (similar to King's lava pillar attack). Deals 25 damage and electrocutes players for a few seconds on hit.
When players attempt to stun him with the metal bat or riot coil, he will parry it with his sword and knock them back for 40 damage, slowing down briefly before resuming chase. For the revolver, he simply slows down for a second to block the shot with his sword.
However, he can only parry attacks in his line of sight, meaning you are able to stun him from behind.

Similar speed to players, deals 30 damage on hit with an average cooldown. They have jerky, erratic animations to help distinguish them from players.
Upon downing a player, instead of leaving them on the ground, the Smiling will have them in a chokehold and attempt to drag them away from nearby players. The downed player's timer will drain 50% faster.
Reaching and reviving the downed player will free them and stun the Smiling.
If a player is fully killed by a Smiling, they will be infected and their corpse will reanimate as another Smiling.
