11 bid, and we need the last 3 books to set

standard rules.

It's an 11 bid, but opponents are short 1 book to make their bid. Only 1 spade has been played so far, leaving 12 spades in play.

  • Each person has 3 cards, which means we are all spade tight.
  • I have Q42 spades.
  • North (my partner) leads 5 of spades.
  1. Are you playing to set or to bag?

  2. Same question, but the previous round, west (was last to play and) threw off a card (implying that he wants to bag = he is sure that he will get his last book).

why not smash straight?

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RWlv-ELZR18

I know this is a dumb question, but 6-7 seconds into the video the player on our right (deuce side) smashes a ball to his left with spin. I'm wondering why he didn't smash strong enough - just to go straight and come back to his side of the court.
