Grounded cozy? Sci-fi books

Hi I’m looking for a sci-fi book to read on holiday I want something hopeful and quite grounded. I’d love something about first contact with aliens in a realistic and positive way or smth similar to project Hail Mary.
I am tempted to go into the more horror sides but don’t think it suits a holiday read. Anyone got any hopeful but realistic recommendations?
Thank you

University interview

Hi, so I get my degree apprenticeship a while ago and am on track to start in September. I just did a curriculum interview for the uni the apprenticeship is with. Can I get rejected from that? I’m starting to really stress myself out over the fact that everything I’ve worked towards may be taken away if I was too awkward of had a brain fart during that interview.
Has anyone else been in the same stage? Do you know if my worries are worth having?

Hi for a bit of context I’ve got a sweet baby corn snake well she’s about 4 years old. I love her dearly but I’ve had some awful mental health issues for the past couple years and it’s been difficult to care for her as best as possible. I want to start handling her more make sure she’s always got water and entertainment.

I’ve been learning about bio active vivariums recently and sort of getting better mentally. I want to give her a lovely new home now or when I move out. Can someone help with what I can have in the vivarium with her? I know isopods and springtails are a must have and I’m exited about the isopods(they’re so cute). What else can I have? I have a dream of having it set up as palladuriam(so small aquarium section in it with small fish and shrimp. Is this possible?

I want to give her the best life possible and a lovely home as well.
