Am I over-exerting my body? Or am I just lazy?

Over the last three years, I (30f, 5'0", 135lbs) would go to the gym 3-4 times per week, primarily focused on weight training, core and walking on an incline. Back in June, I decided to spice up my routine, and picked up some recreational sports 2 times per week, joined a walking club once per week (usually about 2-3 hours of walking) and reduced my gym time to 1-2 times per week. I still do walks on my "rest" days for an hour.

The sports we play during outdoor recreational are mostly volleyball, soccer, flag football and basketball which, admittedly, have been ROUGH on my joints (cardio has been the real wakeup call lol). Lately though, I've struggled to get myself to the gym. I can't seem to stick to my gym routine. I will go once per week, but going twice feels damn near impossible. I feel physically exhausted, I'm always limping the next day after the games, so it's almost as if I have no strength to even lift anything at the gym.

The guilt is so real. I'm starting to wonder if my body just isn't used to doing this much physical activity with sports which could explain why I feel absolutely drained, or do I just need to kick myself in the butt and get motivated again?

Thinking of my Kiki (15) today.

I lost my sweet, but grumpy Kiki on August 1 at 15. She was the true definition of a fighter—rescued from a hoarding home of 10+ cats and dogs, survived cancer, battled kidney disease and pancreatitis, and managed to live with only one tiny tooth left. She was my guardian, my shadow and always kept my bed warm.

Today is one of those days where I am missing her terribly.

Grief is always uncomfortable, but grieving your fur baby is even more of an uncomfortable experience. Your connection with your pet is so unique, and so often difficult to articulate to others who aren’t pet owners. Losing your beloved pet is a unique experience in that it is truly your loss. No one else can really feel this loss with you—at least, not in the same way you would grieve a friend or a family member.

Today, I’m grieving in an empty, cold bed. But at the very least, I know she is warm, safe and happy walking along the rainbow bridge.

Received a follow up about my Phoenix payment issues 10 years later?

I was a casual employee in the summer of 2016. The entire time I was there (April-end of August), I wasn’t paid for any of it before heading back to school in September.

Of course, when I finally started getting paid in mid-September, apparently I was being overpaid at a different rate of pay than what I agreed to. The payments also didn’t stop, even after letting them know. I was told to basically sit on hands while it was being sorted out— but my bills didn’t stop either, I was trying to catch up on the ones I couldn’t cover while being unpaid those four months lol.

I also didn’t have access to the pay system to look at paystubs so I couldn’t even confirm if I was getting paid the correct rate of pay.

In 2022, I get the letter about repaying the debt. I signed the acknowledgment form and said I disagreed with the amount owing. I didn’t hear any follow-up about it until today (four years later). Do I have any options here? I still disagree with the amount, because the email they’ve sent me is that the issue was my rate of pay, not that I was receiving extra paycheques than what I was supposed to.
