Points taken off for over-ordering on CCS?

Do they take off for ordering a full exam and/or extra treatments for a known diagnosis? For example, ordering EDTA, dimercaprol, and penicillamine in lead poisoning (instead of just EDTA and dimercaprol) or ordering all the vitamin studies for ataxia even though it's really only Vit B12 and Vit E...

Any hope for me with the CCS cases?

Genuinely don't think I passed the MCQs on Day 1 and Day 2 :(

I mark a lot but I pretty much marked 15-18 questions per block because I felt so unsure about my answers and for a lot of them, had no clue what they were talking about. The MCQs were absolutely horrendous and it blows my mind how people think Step 3 is easy and needs less prep. It was definitely the hardest and vaguest of them all for me. So many close sounding answers and so many small details I would never have guessed would show up. I prepped for months, and I literally cannot see how I will pass this.

I have my CCS cases on a different day because of accommodations, 3 days left to study for them. Is there any hope for passing if CCS cases go well despite tanking the MCQs?

I am planning to do all 180 of the cases (already did 90 of them), and will repeat them again before test day.

Trying to give myself some grace and hope before completely giving up.

Day 1 was absolutely terrible. Feeling dejected and looking for hope.

I ran out of time on the majority of blocks, and couldn't figure out the convoluted calculations despite spending a lot of time on biostats. There just wasn't enough time for me. I had to guess on a lot of questions especially the drug ads. I missed super easy path and micro questions due to rushing and second guessing myself. I'm feeling really helpless right now.

Is there anyone who felt similarly but passed? Especially if you also ran out time/had to guess? My day 2 is tmrw and I just don't know what to do right now.

Is this a must from Amboss?

I have about a day and half left till my exam. Is it worth it to do the Public Health-Economics and/or Biostats questions on Amboss (total ~200)?

I already did the UW epi/biostats section and watched the Randy Neil 2 summary videos. I also did the ethics questions (~100) on Amboss.

How many biostats/ethics on each block?

Approximately how many questions are biostats/ethics based on each 20-q block of the new format?

Are CCS cases the saving grace?

How much of the Step 3 score breakdown do CCS cases make up?

If someone does poorly or below average on MCQs, do you think doing amazing on the CCS cases can push them over the passing line?

Postponed this exam five times now

I have terrible test anxiety and I have postponed this exam to the point where I cannot push anymore without significant repercussions. I don't feel like I have finished everything I wanted to. My practice scores for NBME 6, 7 were ~70-74% and for Free 137 ~60%. I have done about ~85% UW. I did all the sketchy micro and pharm flashcards. I watched all of Dirty Medicine videos and some physeo path videos.

My exam is on June 30th. I won't have time to do NBME 8 or any other practice tests; for now, I am just reviewing my flashcards and cramming content.

Do you think this is safe enough for me to pass? Should I just get over the fear and take the damn exam?

I have postponed it so many times now, I feel so exhausted with this uncertainty and loss of $$$.

Five days left, freaking out

My Step 3 is just around the corner and I have tons of content review and other material to cram. So far, I have taken NBME 6, 7, and new free 137.

Should I take NBME 8 as well or focus more on content review? It takes me a while to review the NBME exams like at least 1 full day so I don't want to waste too much time.

If I could only do one, should I do NBME 8 or the old Free 137 (if I can find it)?

When are the CCS cases on the real exam?

Are they always on Day 2? What if the exam is spread over 4 days due to extra time accommodations? Would that mean the CCS cases would be Day 3 and 4?

Current Step 3 Score Release Timeline

What is the current timeline like? I know it was taking 6-8 weeks previously with the new format but has it come back to 2 weeks now?

For the exam on June 30th, would we likely get the score back two Wednesdays afterwards (so July 8th) or three Wednesdays (July 15th)?

Scared about how probation affects my future career

I am a PGY2 who is very likely to be put on probation due to taking Step 3 late (due to mix of personal, family reasons) and getting the score after July 1st. My residency requires a passing score before staring PGY3 so this will affect my promotion to the next year. I will get my score end of July, a month into PGY3 year.

Assuming I pass Step 3 on the first try, how will this type of probation affect my career prospects in terms of a job or a less competitive fellowship (such as rheum, A/I, sleep med)? How badly am I screwed and can I explain it somehow to licensing agencies and future employers?
