What if Bikini Bottom is actually a post-apocalyptic human experiment?
Okay hear me out before you downvote me into Goo Lagoon. NO HATE ON SPONGEBOB WHAT SO EVER.
What if Bikini Bottom exists after humanity basically destroyed the surface world… and the ocean became the last place experiments survived?
Think about it:
Bikini Bottom is literally under Bikini Atoll, the real place where nuclear testing happened.
Almost every character acts mutated or unnaturally intelligent.
Sandy is somehow surviving underwater with advanced technology WAY beyond everyone else.
Plankton is tiny but has insanely advanced AI and robotics.
The fish have jobs, cities, driving schools, money, religion, police, and government like they evolved from human influence instead of natural evolution.
And the creepiest part:
Nobody in the show questions any of it.
Even SpongeBob himself almost acts like he’s programmed to stay positive no matter how horrible things get around him. Bro gets tortured mentally and physically every episode and still wakes up smiling at 6AM ready for work.
Mr. Krabs might honestly represent the last surviving form of human greed.
Plankton represents obsession with technology.
Squidward represents depression and burnout.
And SpongeBob represents blind optimism created to keep society functioning.
Also… why are there random human objects everywhere?
Shoes. Tires. Boats. Buildings. Garbage.
It’s like the ocean floor is built on the remains of humanity.
And Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy?
What if they were ACTUAL humans exposed to radiation for decades?
I know SpongeBob is just a cartoon… but the deeper you think about Bikini Bottom, the less normal it feels.
