My wife’s 2023 Corolla Cross has small rust spots on the tailgate. Most are above the license plate or near it. Some are below and closer to the left or right side.

I’ve taken it to the dealer for a warranty repair and they claim the rust is from chipped paint and therefore it is not covered under warranty.

The car only has 17000 km on it, all city driving at no more than 60km/h.

There is no physical way rocks could have chipped the paint on this area of the tailgate. The laws of physics don’t work like that.

Has any else noticed rust in this spot, and if so did you successfully get it covered under warranty?
