I have a theory about Wing (182)’s talent and how he lost his right hand. (Repost)
The couple we saw at the beginning of the manhwa, Lychee and Rambutan, had their talents connected to specific parts of their bodies. Lychee's talent was in her head (photographic memory), while Rambutan's talent was in his leg (extremely high jumping ability). When they tried to escape, the Gargoyle targeted those specific body parts. It cut off Lychee's head because her talent was there, and it cut off Rambutan's leg because his talent was there.
This means that the Gargoyle may not be targeting random body parts to kill prisoners who try to escape. Instead, it may be targeting the exact parts of their bodies where their talents are located.
As for 182, he had been hearing about the outside world since he was young, so he eventually developed a desire to see it for himself. This desire, combined with a possible attempt to escape from Red Reverie or the Center in general, could have led him to try to escape Fog Land.
When 182 tried to escape, the Gargoyle may have targeted his right hand because his main talent was located there, and cut it off.
But then you might ask: Why didn't he die like the other two?
One possibility is that the Gargoyle was previously a friend of 182, so its emotional attachment to him may have prevented it from killing him. Another possibility is that Red Reverie, or the Center in general, can control the Gargoyle and prevented it from killing 182 because he was considered a unique experiment.
Also, 182's right arm looks different from his other arm, especially because of the straps around it. This makes me wonder if there is something special about that arm. And the fact that Red Reverie is still keeping the severed hand makes me even more suspicious that it contains something extremely important.
So basically, my theory has two main points:
- The reason 182 lost his right hand:
He may have tried to escape from Red Reverie or the Center, and the Gargoyle cut off his hand.
- The location of 182's main talent:
His main talent may actually be located in his right hand, which could explain why the Gargoyle targeted it and why Red Reverie is still keeping it.
That could also explain why 182 always warns Dante against trying to escape the prison. He may have already experienced an escape attempt himself, so he knows firsthand what can happen if they try to get out.
Does this theory make sense to you guys?
I'd love to hear your opinions about it!
