i recently bought a sony ccd-trv46e and the previous owner was kind enough to give me his used video8 tape. i think the video8 tape captures the vintage feel quite well and i do like it (i have a video sample on my account). however, i saw new hi8 tape for sale online and i started wondering:

• is there a big difference between video8 and hi8? if so, what is it?

• would buying hi8 tape when i already have the video8 tape be worth it?

i'm trying to make the most of my camcorder and learn more so please share your opinions!
