Which one? Complete strangers/close proximity or two people who have history but haven’t seen each other in a long time/close proximity
Basically, the title. Which one would be more compelling?

I’m a few thousand words into my novel so I can easily switch tenses. But right now I’m writing in first person present tense. I’m not sure why I gravitated toward this writing style. Maybe because I see the plot playing like a movie in my head and I want the reader to feel the emotions and experience the plot as it happens. However, I am finding it a bit of a challenge not reverting to past tense, but it’s going well regardless. Which brings me to my question, who here has experience with reader preference when it comes to your own novel? Do you see your past tense writing fare better than present tense? Vise versa? I’ve visited the writing sub and it seems pretty mixed on preferences. I have seen a few people say they won’t even read a book if they find it to be in first person present. Any advice?
I’m still writing my book, so not quite ready for actual paid marketing. However, would now be a good idea to create author profiles on various platforms? Or do you use your existing social media accounts to promote your book? Idk, I’m feeing embarrassed about promoting a book with sex scenes where I actually know people, especially family lol.
