Is it possible to get paid six digit at entry level if I choose IPE as major?
Currently I’m a science background college student and will sit for HSC in a few months. At first, due to family influence, I leaned toward traditional engineering since most of my cousins are engineers. But during college life I realized I’m actually more interested in cognitive and analytical fields like how the human brain works, how AI functions, and similar areas rather than core engineering itself. After researching, I found that Bangladesh doesn’t really have dedicated undergraduate programs focused on cognitive science or related interdisciplinary fields. Studying abroad for undergrad also ain’t very feasible for my family right now, so I started exploring career paths more aligned with corporate and analytical sectors. That’s when I became interested in Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE). But I noticed that opportunities in IPE also seem kinda limited. The subject isn’t very mainstream, seats are extremely limited, and among public universities mainly BUET, RUET, KUET, and SUST are considered highly reputed for IPE. Even in job requirements, graduates from these universities often seem to get higher priority. Some private universities like AIUB, MIST, BAUST, and AUST offer IPE too but I’ve noticed students from those universities are sometimes less preferred in competitive job markets.
So my main question raises here what if someone graduates in IPE from one of those reputed public universities how realistic is it to secure a six figure or nearest entry level job? And if it is possible, what specific skills, certifications, projects, internships or CV additions should they focus on during undergrad to maximize those chances?
N.B. I do have some pretty good soft skills like communication, adaptability, leadership and so on.
