The post you see every other day
I know this question gets asked every admission cycle but I felt that answers targeted more specifically to me would help a bit more than all the threads I seem to have read so far.
I’m an IBDP student from North India (have lived in Chennai before if any of that matters) and I currently have offers from both Krea and FLAME for Economics + Data Science.
I also have a 25% scholarship at Krea, although cost honestly is not the deciding factor for me here.
Over the past few weeks I’ve gone pretty deep into researching both colleges curriculum structures,LinkedIn profiles, placement reports ,internship patterns,Reddit threads, faculty backgrounds, student reviews and I think I’ve confused myself more than anything
From what I’ve understood so far:
FLAME online has this reputation of being:
Very social/party-oriented
Surface level
weaker academically
BUT the Eco + DS dual degree (A BSc.)itself actually looks pretty rigorous and extensive from what I’ve seen. A lot of the profiles I found from that course seem to land in fairly similar internships/roles to Krea students too.(Ey analysts, equity research firms, MBA or other masters at pretty good abroad colleges)
Meanwhile Krea seems to present a much more academically focused student culture. From what I’ve read, professors are very approachable and if you’re proactive, you can get a lot out of the environment academically/research-wise.
My situation differs a bit because I’m currently leaning toward:
-working for a few years after UG
-possibly finance / analytics / consulting
-and then doing a master’s later
So I’m trying to understand how the two environments differ for someone with that trajectory.
Naturally I land at these questions:
Is the academic/intellectual difference between students at Krea and FLAME actually very noticeable in day-to-day life?
Are serious students at both colleges getting strong placements/internships or are LinkedIn profiles giving me a bias?
At FLAME, is the “party/rich kid/corporate polish” stereotype exaggerated?
At Krea, does the smaller campus and Sri City isolation become mentally draining after a while?
Do you think the level of challenge that both courses from the two uni provide has a big difference
6.Anything you would tell me that I have failed to find online.
I don’t need some Bollywood-level college social life or parties every weekend, but I also don’t want to spend 4 years socially dead
Ideally I’d still want a solid friend group, occasional outings/trips,drinks with friends once in a while
And finally:
If you could genuinely go back and choose again, would you still pick your university?
Willing to listen to anyone with half an opinion. Thanks!
