hi! im an incoming freshman at penn and a pianist. ive been playing classical piano on and off for about 10 years and in recent years ive been really interested in learning jazz piano but have literally zero foundation or knowledge. i was looking into the private lessons offered at blutt and my budget is kind of low so im not sure if i want to pay $650 for a semester of hour long lessons if there are more affordable options elsewhere. i also have dealt with bad performance anxiety all my life and i get nervous playing in front of other people, so i want an instructor who is understanding about it and well-suited for handling that.
i was wondering if anyone has experience with taking jazz piano lessons at blutt and have any insights or advice. some questions: which instructor(s) did you learn under or would recommend for total beginners? overall were the lessons worth it? would you recommend the 30 min lessons for $250/sem? any affordable resources/other ways to learn in philly? and anything else you want to share about your experiences. i would appreciate responses from anyone whos taken lessons but especially if you started as a beginner (doesnt have to be in jazz piano)! thank you!!
im an incoming freshman and was wondering about double majoring and double minoring. it would most likely all be within cas (only exception is that im considering the interschool sustainability management minor) would appreciate any insight on if anyone is doing this (or if youre only double major/minor, id love to hear your experience too)
