Freaking out!

I just picked up this Catching Fire limited edition and numbered(!) collector's box from 2014.

After I ordered it I was so sure I'd get scammed because it seemed too good to be true. But as you can see it is absolutely real and even sealed! The plastic is still on. I want to be a good collector and keep it as perfect as possible, but I also really want to watch the extra features (I think some of it isn't available on youtube) And I NEED the round mockingjay box in my bookshelf What do I do???

I was watching the movies again, and realized the Capitol people could be dressing up in those crazy outfits just for the games. I always assumed (like katniss does) that they just look like that all the time. but maybe they don't normally walk around in such extravagant and vibrant clothes and makeup. maybe they even dye their hair crazy colors for the few weeks where the games are relevant (including the victor's tour). we don't really know much about life in the Capitol for the rest of the year. they could be wearing completely normal clothes every other day. Or at least more convenient clothes.

for all we know the people at the parade and interviews could be just the elite while the majority of Capitol citizens don't ever get to parttake in the games in that way. Maybe it's a social hierarchy, and only people at the top get to be a part of the crowd. kind of like our world. Katniss never really meets an average Capitol citizen, or anyone not connected to the games. We get a tiny look into it in tbosas, but we all know that things definitely have changed since Snow was a Mentor.

Dressing up for the games could all just be another of Snow's/ Dr Gaul's ideas to make the games more exciting.

disclaimer: okay I know we see Capitol citizens outside of the games in Mockingjay part 2, but aren't their looks very different from the first and second movie? (which could just be a result from the war, and the rushed circumstances, but it could also be closer to how they normally dress)

UPDATE: guys, holy shit, he is real! I feel absolutely awful for doubting him. maybe it's a good thing I have that voice in my head asking what if I'm wrong, because I obviously was.

let me explain. I just came across an instagram page of a young british wild life photographer. he is 16 years old, has around 600k followers and is obviously very talented. but there was something about the set up in his videos that made the warning bells go off in my head. I am 25, terrified of the direction we're heading ito with AI, and in general very skeptic to a lot of the content i see.

I can usually spot AI slop pretty fast. Still, I found myself push my suspicions aside, and was willing to believe this guy was real. he seemed really passionate although a bit awkward, but he was obviously great at photography and who am I to diminish this potentially real 16 year old boy's talent, just because he is a little bit awkward when he's talking to the camera, and there are many unnecessary cuts in every video? maybe he's cutting away the filler words, who knows? also, there were so many clips of the same locations from different angles. the shots he got of the animals were suspiciously good though and showed a lof of very rare moments in nature.

still I felt bad for thinking something felt off. then I scrolled through his profile and tried to put my emotions aside, I had to really convince myself that my gut feeling was right and this guy does in fact not exist. I even sent my friend, who is also very anti-AI, the video and very carefully stated that I think this guy is AI, but he could instead be neurodivergent or just shy. I felt so bad for even sending one single person that message.

I couldn't find a single comment that accused him of being AI, one guy even wrote about how great it was to see real photography amidst all of today's AI. I really had to look at everything multiple times to believe my initial reaction was right. He is AI. I am 99% sure of it. still I don't want to share his handle or photos on here because what if I'm wrong??

what if I call out a living breathing humanbeing and make other people doubt his talent is real as well. that happens to real artists and it can be pretty damaging. Obviously I'm still conflicted.

this whole thing disturbed me so much that I decided to finally delete instagram, because I can no longer trust my ability to see what is real and what is made up by a computer. it is actually terrifying to know that AI (or whoever writes the prompts) really uses our empathy in order to make us suspend our disbelief.
