Price and Missing Features on 17U.

  1. I can't seem to understand the actual price of the phone as it's different in every region. I got my 16gb 1TB Global version for $1348 USD with free Photography Pro Kit and I see people buying it for under $1200 USD. Did I got ripped off or got a normal offer?

  2. Why is Gold Vibes and Cinematic Filters only available in the camera app but not in the gallery App. I took some photos where I knew I need to apply Gold Vibes filter but due to the time constraint I couldn't change filter all the time so I decided to apply it later. Once I sat for editing, I couldn't find it anywhere. I have been OPPO user and all Hasselblad Filters have always been available in both places. A very frustrated scene for me btw.

  3. Shooting video at 4K 120fps and trying to do slow motion in gallery gap doesn't actual slow down the video without jerkiness. I tried multiple times to do a smooth transition but whenever I slow down the video (I cut and slow down a portion) it just doesn't look good at all. Is the app not powerful enough to do this and I have to use another app or again something I am missing?

  4. The stabilization on of 4k videos are amazing, even 8k gives a good stabilization but why isn't changing lens allowed? Does it allow in promode LOG? I don't shoot LOG but this is a feature that I am very used to, taking videos on different lens.

  5. No widgets on Lock screen? is this 2022 for Xiaomi? All my previous phones (iPhone, OPPO etc) had this feature normally available but in Xiaomi it is straight out missing. Live Alert also doesn't have any option in setting where I can limit which app I need to let Live Alerts on through Hyper Island. It's a must feature to restrict certain apps not to show up when you don't want to.

  6. Where is the option to have a different Quick setting screen (old style)? I don't like having two different swipes for notification and quick setting which is very annoying on iPhone as well as Xiaomi.

Other than these, this phone is better than my iPhone and Photography on this like I am using a DSLR.

Some Random Shots to explain that Xiaomi is capable of being the best for you.

It's been 3-4 days since I received my 17 Ultra. I have been playing with it. I haven't been to any location where I can get proper still photos so I am just doing Random street Photography. It's very difficult to take people's photos as I'm in the UAE and I can get in trouble but just wanted to show that this phone is enough for daily use.

You can't get a bad shot out of this if the subject is not still or moving slowly. "Fast shot" is good if you want darker kinda shots, sometimes it's good, sometimes it makes the whole scene way darker than you anticipated so keep trying different options. My rule is to take a URAW photo, a normal photo and a Fastshot to compare later and keep whatever you prefer after some editing.

The only problem I have faced it that not all lens options are available for pro mode (can't do 1.5x) and can't do 1x to 4x in videos except 4k 60fps which is a bummer.

If you like to ask anything, feel free to ask. I am a 2xPhone user so I keep OPPO Find N3 as my primary device until I feel like Xiaomi is enough for me.

Personally, I still prefer Portraits out of Hasselblad in good daylight but the moment lights get dim, Xiaomi takes DSLR like photos which is amazing.

First time Leica user. Have some questions.

Question starts after ------ lines.

I ordered my Xiaomi 17 Ultra (Standard Edition) 2 days ago with Photography Kit Pro , it costed me around $1280 in UAE and I recieved it yesterday. This is the first time I have used a Leica camera/phone, previously I have been a user of Xperia, iPhone and OPPO(Hasselblad) color science.

For display, charging and speaker the phone is quite good, No complains however it is very light and doesn't feel sturdy enough.

For OS, it's miles behind ColorOS, lots of missing functionality and smoothness but it's fine if you're going to mainly use it for Photography and normal use. I haven't decided yet if I should move my sim to this one yet as I am still using my OPPO Find N3 as my main device for everything else.

For Camera, as compared to my Find N3, in day time I don't see much difference but it is more sharp and faster, I still prefer Master Mode color science (but it's been only 2 days). I haven't taken much good photos yet, but random photos shows that it is quite an upgrade for me. I am more interested in that telephoto lens for portraits which I will use once I will go out properly or to office.

---------

So I need to understand about the Leica color science, where does it excels, where shouldn't I rely on it. Leica Vibrant and Lieca Authentic looks 80% same to me or maybe it's just me but I like to edit my photos later so which one should I use mostly? 50MP mode have better details but I can't seem to understand why it doesn't work with Authentic mode.

About that LOFIC, I can't seem to understand how it works in Photo Mode as I took some Light photos with both my phone and they looks very similar. Xiaomi was sharp yes but it is supposed to be. Is LOFIC only useful for over bright lights like Fire?

I took 17x photos and they don't AI too me, they were sharp and colorful which I wasn't expecting as it doesn't have a 5x or 10x optical camera. It takes amazing clear shots of objects.

The attached photos are at 200mm and were taken around 6 in the evening and edited with the default Gallery app.

Tell me something I should know more about this phone and how do you utilize it as a Camera.
