Struggling with tones/shades!
Hi!
I’m doing my own makeup for an upcoming wedding that I’m a bridesmaid in. I’m taking this as an opportunity to sharpen my skills and refresh my makeup bag as well.
I went into Sephora and got some samples of foundations, plus some other products that I couldn’t sample so I just bought. I have two looks that I think were very successful, but one is warmer and one is cooler. Overall I like the look of the cooler tones better since I definitely don’t want to look yellow, but I think the one pictured here is a little too cool. I’m thinking I can kinda blend my two approaches together to achieve a happy medium of warm and cool, but want to get some outside opinions!
First two photos are the warmer toned products (Dior 1.5N backstage, Haus labs 11 concealer, laura mercier translucent setting powder, elf halo glow contour wand medium/tan, Patrick ta blush duo in just enough). I feel like my face kinda gets lost under the makeup, but the shade blends in nicely with my neck and body.
Second two photos are the cooler toned products (Dior 1C backstage, Haus labs 07 concealer, Huda beauty easy bake in cherry blossom, Sephora collection contour wand in shade 2 with a light layer of elf halo glow contour wand in medium/tan, Patrick ta blush duo in just enough). I think this one allows my features to stand out more, especially the high points of my face and eyes, but I worry about looking too washed out in professional photos or bright natural light.
Added in some additional pictures with a warm/cool identifier in some other lighting!
My main question is: stick with the warm tone base and use some cooler toned products on the high points (like the lighter haus labs concealer and the cherry blossom huda vs the yellower laura mercier), or do i stick with the cool toned look and just add some more warmth?
