Neglected Cat Lives on My Street
There is a cat on my street who has been visiting me for months straight now. He is left to sleep outside every single night, even when the weather is horrible. We will find him soaking wet outside, drinking from puddles, etc. And it really breaks my heart as I have formed a connection with this cat. I have photo evidence of him outside at night and pictures of him crying at my window to both come inside and for me to go out and feed him as this cat has grown very dependent on me. I found out he has an owner who lied to our face and tried to tell us he lets him in despite us seeing him outside every single night and early in the morning (1-3am) when we go out to smoke.
I know this goes against animal welfare laws in my area (Toronto, Ontario) and I really want to take him. He’s grown very attached to me and I don’t know how to go about it legally while also making sure we can keep him as I really love this cat and all I want is to take care of him. If anyone has any similar experiences or advice it would be greatly appreciated.
