Self-Hosted Open Source Digital Land Twin for Conservation and Agroecology

Self-Hosted Open Source Digital Land Twin for Conservation and Agroecology

Hey Everyone!

I made this digital twin software for my own land to help me be a better steward of it (I live in the Adirondack Park) and I generalized it so anyone can make one of their land too (or conservation groups can use it too).

By default it pulls a lot of good helpful geospatial data that's free and publicly available nationally like LANDFIRE EVT and GAP Species richness, but it also supports adding your own. For example, in the Adirondack Park, where I live, there's a government group that publish layers about rare and endangered communities, and I found out part of my land intersects with an endangered damsel fly community. I've been working to find ways to encourage their multiplication.

There are a lot of neat features in here for conservationists, and the whole source code is free and open source. You can check it out here on GitHub. I really made this with conservation and permaculture specifically in mind, so I hope you'll tell me if there's anything I can add to make it more useful for conservation purposes.

Digital Twin Engine Update: NATO Edition

Towards a meshtastic standard for America and all her NATO partners! May every NATO citizen be a land owner and may every land owner receive realtime telemetry data from their own self-hosted meshtastic network!

Happy Independence Day my fellow Americans!! And to everyone else, welcome to the American century!!

Full source code here: https://github.com/zymazza/mazzap

On a serious note, basically no other country has the kind of high quality datasets covering the entire borders the way the USA does, courtesy of the USGS, USDA, and other agency partners. So the NATO pack is best-effort. Just enough to get you started. It uses META's CHM AI model to try to extrapolate from photos what's missing from the data, but even some areas have pretty weak free ortho imagery coverage.

Even if the vegetation typing isnt so good, you can still georeference all your meshtastic devices live on a 3d map of your property, so that's cool hopefully!

Self hosted local digital twin platform

I wanted an interactive 3d map of my property for agroecological purposes and I open sourced the framework. It lets you draw an AOI and then queries some fetchers to get some common datasets like USGS LiDAR, LANDFIRE, and GAP Species Richness.

It creates a three.js scene and tries to roughly type the trees as evergreen or deciduous with NAIP imagery and then even guesstimate the species with the LANDFIRE EVT classes.

It has some other goodies as well!

I hope you like it! Full source code here to build your own:

Self Hosted Digital Land Twin with Meshtastic Integration

Hi everyone! I made this open source digital twin platform with meshtastic integration. I'm currently using it to monitor my dogs that frequently run off, but soon I'll be getting sheep in too. It has a lot of other features, but the real time tracking is probably the coolest.

The integration is exposed to an MCP server, so you can ask an AI about your devices.
