In my opinion, SPUNK, FUCK 12 FREESTYLE, and Gerk Walk are easily the songs that he does the best on. Mostly because on all of these songs, he doesn’t punch in at all and makes it sound good as hell too. What are your thoughts tho? I might be leaving some songs out so let me know if I am lol.
I fucking love this song. The beat is cool, the chorus is earwormy as fuck but fire, the verses are great, and his singing isn’t particularly amazing but it’s definitely not as bad as it can be on some songs during this time period. And when I say his most underrated song, I really mean it. I’ve seen maybe 3 people max talk about this song. Which sucks, because I really like it. This song, for those who don’t know, is SOXNSANDALS.
He used to be able to drop some cool shit every once in a while. I really liked his self titled Christ Dillinger album and darkillinger was a cool tape even though I know most people really don’t like it. But even the very first song he did with Darkie, BLAKA BLAKA BLAKA, was insufferable. FUCK 12 FREESTYLE was cool which was released not much longer after, its 6am was surprisingly good considering him and Darkie don’t seem to be taking it that seriously, but overall? I think he had INSANE potential to be one of the best members of Spider Gang, and then threw it all away by his third album. He used to have some really good bars back when he still used to make trap metal shit, but he decided to just make “meme-rap” (I know he hates when people call his music that but genuinely what else do you want me to call it) which is low-effort crap where half of the time I can’t even tell if he’s being serious or not. Live $wag Daily and BASEDWOODS are seriously some of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. Every album by him now is just him and like 3 other people saying the exact same thing over and over again over beats that sound cool at first, but quickly get old by the end. Lyrics are absolutely awful. No matter what song it is, if it’s a Christ Dillinger song made post-2022 the lyrics are almost guaranteed to be awful. I don’t fuck with his music at all but I must say I do respect him as an artist for being able to change his music style so drastically because by this point he’s been making music with DJ Smokey and Acid Souljah a lot longer than he ever made trap metal for, so it’s CLEARLY what he wants to do, though I couldn’t possibly imagine why. It is in my opinion the worst verse on the entire album. It’s just terrible dude. But the weird thing is that I don’t really have a reason why I think that.
I don’t know if it’s his flow, his lyrics, his delivery, his voice, the beat not working with him well, but whatever it is, it is INSUFFERABLE.
At first I didn’t like it all that much cause I just thought that Darkie had “lost his spark” for trap metal by this point but goddamn he can still make some good ass trap metal and I think this song is a perfect example of it. What do y’all think of Locomotive tho?

I wanted to like this album. I really did. I was super hyped just for Darkie to release anything. But in all honesty? I didn’t like it all that much.
The bars are pretty terrible across the whole thing, way too many similes. Not only that, but the bars on PFAS are particularly dreadful. SUPER DARK MAN (the intro track) sounded alright but it felt like I was waiting for a beat drop that wasn’t coming. LOCK IN sounded cool but it was pretty boring. I did quite like INVINCIBLE. DON’T PLAY was alright. PFAS sounds okay but, like I said, the bars are awful. I KNOW PEOPLE is alright but repetitive. I really liked CAN OF SPRITE. The rapping on GODDAMN was good but that beat is atrocious. INCONCEIVABLE is cool. PAY DA FEE is easily the best song, i love the beat and the rapping and its overall just a great song.
No song on this album stuck out to me like I wished they did. Even if one stuck out to me as particularly bad, I’d still appreciate it because at least there would be something to remember. The beats are all pretty forgettable too, except GODDAMN which had a pretty bad beat. SKOTSKR is a great producer, but his production on here just didn’t do it for me. I wish I liked this album as much as I wanted to, but man it was a forgettable 21 minutes. I think I’d give it something like a 5/10.
Also, this doesn’t contribute to the actual quality of the album, but the album cover is NOT good. It’s good art, but not a good album cover.

It’s been a week, and I think I’ve had enough time to let it sit. (Referring to stress). I do like it, kinda gives off ANXIETY vibes. I just think it kinda lacks in comparison to that song, but especially to the song released before it, entropy. But, I don’t wanna compare. I do think the writing is noticeably, like… weaker? Than it usually is. It sounds extremely similar to hope off of yang, which I think is way better. I liked the voicemails from his mom but there’s, like, three other songs that not only sound better but also fit the voicemails in better. So overall, I think the song is something like a 6/10. Not bad, but really not all that great either.
On all 4 songs that BVDLVD and Josh have done together, BVDLVD has always done WAY better. It’s most noticeable on GAS! and PUNK!, both of which I feel like I could listen to BVDLVD’s verse forever, whereas the song would be just as good, if not better, without Darkie’s verse. I don’t really like RADAR at all but I still think BVDLVD does way better on that song.
This is one of his best songs yet. Like legitimately this is so beautiful… one of my favorite choruses from him. I may just be super hyped for the new release and my opinions may change in the future but god DAMN this is fantastic.

I honestly think 10 FOOT TALL is better, but the production on GAS! is absolutely NUTS. I think 10 FOOT TALL is better tho due to the skit at the end being funnier, Darkie’s verse ACTUALLY being good this time, the beat being not as good but still fantastic, the chorus being super fun and having great energy, and BVDLVD also doing really good on it.
Which version of EMPTY BASKET is better? The original one by CXRPSE or Lil Darkie’s cover of it on SPIDER GANG IS OVER? I think they’re both good but I honestly like Darkie’s cover more, the overall vibe fits the lyrics better. But what do you think?
Idk if this is a hot take or not, but Josh’s verse on Scorn is absolutely fucking garbage. It is so poorly written, it is almost comical.
