Received a call from a London number claiming he's from Cloudways

Hi I received a call last night from a dude saying he was from Cloudways. Is this normal? He asked if my issue was resolved and if I was happy.

Is this normal?

Need a sanity check on offboarding old admin accounts on a live WooCommerce + LearnDash site.

Two accounts to deal with:

  • Previous dev, User ID #1 (original super admin)
  • Former employee, admin role, also has LearnDash quiz/course history going back to 2022

Backup taken, no app passwords or REST API keys attached to either. Content audit done.

My plan is to deactivate (role → Subscriber, scramble password, parking email) rather than hard delete, because:

  • Deleting User ID #1 worries me — plugins/integrations sometimes hardcode user_id = 1
  • Deleting the former employee would either orphan his LearnDash quiz history or reassign it to the current owner, polluting her own learner profile
  • Deactivation revokes access fully and is reversible

Anyone deleted User ID #1 on a live site — anything break? And how do you handle LearnDash learner data when offboarding former staff?

Deactivate-and-demote feels like the right move but want to make sure I'm not missing something.
