Calling it now - Link cut his hair because he got casted for Survivor 52.
Link and his family are huge survivor fans. They attended the Survivor 50 live finale. Survivor 51 just finished filming and they will begin filming 52 pretty soon.
He cut it short to let it grow to a manageable length by the time filming of 52 begins.
