Is anyone not mad that we dont have unions that work?

Is anyone not mad that we dont have unions that work?

With all the major firms announcing retrenchment despite posting record profits and our local companies 'zaoing' from responsibilities from our own people, shouldn't we be more angry that no one is looking after our ricebowl?

Is it not weird that our GDP has been going up and up, with major companies recording higher than ever profits even in Singapore, does not feel like many of us working here benefited.

Look at the 'appalling' response of NTUC during the Agoda retrenchment saga or their 'disappointment' during Lazada layoffs - which frankly is a non-responsive response.

Of course there are many others examples to prove the 'usefulness' of our unions.

Transforming Air India ‘definitely not going to be a walk in the park’: SIA chief Goh Choon Phong

Few points to note:

- The process of transforming Air India is “definitely not going to be a walk in the park”, he noted at SIA’s FY2026 earnings briefing on Friday (May 15).

- For its share, SIA booked a S$945.2 million loss from Air India for FY2026 ended Mar 31.

- As at Mar 31, SIA’s carrying amount in Air India amounted to S$1.1 billion against a total cost of S$2.1 billion. The Singapore group’s management assessed that there were indicators of impairment for the investment in Air India

- However, he was unable to comment at this time on the amount of capital injected into the associated company in this financial year, nor when the beleaguered Indian airline is expected to turn around.

- The 53.6 per cent decline in net profit was due largely to the absence of a one-off, non-cash accounting gain of S$1.1 billion, which came from the disposal of the Vistara airline and was recognised in the year-ago period.

Foreign investors pull out of India at record pace

Yet we see Singapore investing and putting so much faith in their market and economy. Makes me wonder what's the DD here and if we are using state funds for these investments (correct me if i am wrong pls) shouldnt the public also be privy to the DD that they did?

Been seeing some tiktok videos talking about how expensive the tickets and all around expenses will be.

Which make me curious if world cup is really such a popular thing in SG also. Since my social circle doesnt watch soccer and have other interests instead, i never quite understood the hype.

Do yall also follow and will be going to the US? Or people around you actually follow world cup?
