X100vi vs. X-E5

I am sure this has been asked a dozen times, I’ve poured over this sub reddit and a few others to compare, and have narrowed it down to two options and would like people who own either or both to give me their opinion and hopefully share a few examples.

I currently have a cannon MarkIV and used to do mostly portrait photography. Now it’s just a hobby, but that camera just sits on a shelf because it is big and bulky to lug around daily life. I want to get back into taking photos mostly to capture my daughter’s childhood, with the goal to physically print some photo books with memories through the years. I have a newer IPhone but still don’t feel as if those images are sharp enough or hold up to print as well (I say this so I don’t get the “just use your phone” comment).

Obviously the X100VI pops up a lot as recommended, and from what I can tell the X-E5 is the alternative if you want to swap lenses or not wait for back orders. I can only find the X100VI for way over MSRP, so looking around $2400ish. The x-E5 with the 23mm kit lens is looking like around $2000.

So your advice please - and if you have pics to share to demonstrate camera capability I’d love to see! My goal for the camera:

- easy to bring with, doesn’t take up a lot of room
- sharp images, I have Lightroom for post processing
- good image stabilization (kids rarely hold still for long)
- good for capturing some travel shots
- not concerned about video honestly

With that said, which camera do you recommend and why? Or is there another alternative I’m missing?

Does anyone have a full video of crowd interactions from Glendale in sympathy magic?

I haven’t seen any yet but hoping maybe someone caught her interacting with the front stage before moving on to the side??
